Today’s writing prompt is based on the poem Turning
Earth care, as it turns out, is really about self-care and other-care. What we design today impacts how we live tomorrow. For better or for worse, it even impacts far into upcoming generations.
In “Turning,” a shortcut today becomes an injury tomorrow. Says the poet, “I’m not convinced,” meaning that she’s not convinced that every shortcut is worth the long-term effect.
Write a poem about some aspect of your living that represents a kind of shortcut that has an impact on how you or others will live tomorrow. Are you convinced about the wisdom of the shortcut? Are you not convinced? If you like, begin or end your poem with the words “I’m not convinced” or “I’m convinced.”
