Poetic Earth Month was originally created to provide a month-long poetic focus for earth care, in the absence of such an offering elsewhere.
As part of that focus, we offer a 30 Days, 30 Poems Challenge that deeply inspires participants. And we encourage participants to join EcoChallenge in April and October, which provides simple ideas for how to make a difference in our world.
Overall, we understand that many people are aching for a heart-and-soul based approach to the challenging questions that face us regarding earth care—especially the critical question of climate breakdown. While statistics and news can be important for understanding the raw state of things, they rarely motivate us beyond the moment. They can also make us feel stressed and hopeless. Especially if we’re not really up for an activist lifestyle.
Poetic Earth Month is here to foster understanding about climate breakdown. And it’s a peaceful place that inspires the everyday person, by providing art and story and poetry that connects us to each other and our world. It also offers simple earth care ideas anyone can try—easy to implement and life-enriching—so we can all take care together, as part of our everyday lives.
So, look around this space and let it inspire you. Take away some new ideas for living. Share the place with friends, family, students, or co-workers. We’re happy to have you here.
