Poetic Earth Month was born in 2019, to provide a month-long poetic focus for earth care, in the absence of such an offering elsewhere.
To establish the focus, we created a 30 Days, 30 Poems Challenge that deeply inspired the Tweetspeak community which is our center. And we encouraged the community to consider, while they engaged in their poeming, joining EcoChallenge, which provides simple ideas for how to make a difference in our world.
Pretty quickly, we understood that people are aching for a heart-and-soul based approach to the challenging questions that face us regarding earth care—especially the critical question of climate change. While statistics and news can be important for understanding the raw state of things, they rarely motivate people beyond the moment.
People need inspiration, they need hope, they want art and story and poetry that connects them to each other and our world. They also need simple ideas—easy to implement and life-enriching.
Poetic Earth Month is ready to meet these needs in a fuller way— with poetry, art, story, ideas, and articles. To learn more about the particulars, you can read the expanded vision at GoFundMe.
Or you can just look around this space and let it inspire you. We’re happy to have you here.
