Today’s poetry prompt is based on the poem After Reading About the Iceberg Waterfalls
In today’s poem, the poet measures time by the age of her eldest daughter, saying that the Arctic summer ice will be gone, causing the sea to rise significantly, “in a daughter’s dawn of time”—about 20 years from now.
Write a poem in which you measure time in terms of a family member’s, a friend’s, or a neighbor’s age.
Or, write a poem in which you promise a family member, neighbor, or friend that, because of your love for them, you will do something (or things) specific to help slow the rising of the seas.
